I think Sao Paulo (Brazil) is an important city that's missing. We have Rio de Janeiro and Recife from Brazil, but not only is Sao Paulo the most populated one in Brazil (3rd in the world), but it is also the "city to do business" in Brazil. Recife on the other hand I believe would not be missed since there are at least 3 or 4 other cities more significant in the country.

You can add any city you like in a script file.

Yeah I know that.... I was just replying to David's post: "Are there any other cities that you think should be added to the pre-defined city database? If so, you may suggest here."

With increasing urbanization across the global, even some old cities should be updated. Their population rise or fall, and some new cities emerged in this decade. Not to mention wage level and living standard changed a lot since 2000.

For example a new "city" emerged in Taiwan in 2010 (more precisely merged of many satellite cities and upgraded from county status) - New Taipei City with a population of 4 millions. And Taipei is no longer the biggest city in Taiwan. In fact, Taipei is the fourth, surpassed by New Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Taichung cities, all have population at least 2 millions. Even the fifth largest city - Tainan city, has close to 2 million population. More than 60% of Taiwan's population lived in these 5 cities. The situation in China is roughly the same, with many emerging cities pop up along side the economic growth (like Shenzhen, Dongguan which are 25th and 38th populous cities in the world). Not to mention most Japanese cities and Korean cities are missing.

So perhaps leave the database for modding would be a better idea after all. And the "official" cities could just be chosen from a more complete mod, packaged inside the default mod folder.

For your information, we do plan to include the city database in the MOD kit in next major updated version of CapLab.

nice that more cities will be added. Was checking out the cities in the link you provided. The people living in Winnepeg, Canada are probably going to wonder when they moved from Canada to the USA :D

Wrong country for Boston at city list http://www.capitalismlab.com/city-list.html
It's USA, not China.

Btw, translate kit doesn't work for city names :(

I have fixed the error on the web page.

We will work on supporting city name translations and will make it available in a later update.
