Capitalism Lab modding

Post by David »

Modding instructions
You may download Capitalism Lab MOD files from http://www.moddb.com/games/capitalism-lab/downloads

Read the instructions about modding at http://www.capitalismlab.com/mod/

-------------------------------

How to share your mods with other players
For those of you who have created mods and want to share them with other players, you may follow the below two simple steps for distributing your mods:
1) Zip the mod file and the accompanying mod description text file. (e.g. MYMOD.RES and MYMOD.TXT)
2) Upload your MOD to http://www.moddb.com Capitalism Lab page at http://www.moddb.com/games/capitalism-lab/downloads
3) Create a new post on this forum with a link to your MOD file at http://www.moddb.com

(Capitalism Lab's in-game MOD interface is linked to http://www.moddb.com. So when you uploaded your MOD there, all users will be able to see it.)

-------------------------------

How to use other players' mods in your game
For those of you who have downloaded mod files created by other players, the process to get them loaded in your game is very straightforward - see below:

1) Unpack the mod ZIP file to your "MOD" subfolder under your Capitalism Lab folder.
(You can open your Capitalism Lab program folder by right-clicking on the Capitalism Lab game icon and select “Properties”, then select “Open File Location” to open the Capitalism Lab program folder.)

2) Follow the instructions on this web page for using a MOD file: http://www.capitalismlab.com/mod/how-to-use-a-mod/

David

Is there a way to increase the quantity of resource from a node?

Example: Increasing a silver resource node from 90,000 ounces to 200,000 ounces?

thanks

Either there is some information missing, or I'm unclear of how modding works. The file structure is:

Labs\MOD
Files include the .RES and .TXT files and a folder with the same name. Then there are two subfolders, the Data and Images. What am I doing wrong?

You may follow the instructions on this page http://www.capitalismlab.com/how-to-make-a-mod.html for creating a MOD for CapLab.

If it doesn't work for you, please provide details as to what problems you have encountered.

This web page should have all the information you need for creating MOD files for CapLab: http://www.capitalismlab.com/how-to-make-a-mod.html

If you have further questions, please let us know.

Yes I still have questions. I have read that page in its entirety several times. Lets say for purposes of this conversation I want to create a mod called, I dunno, "NEW PORTRAITS."

Do I make a new folder in the /mods/ folder OR do I make a new folder in the /Mod kit/ folder?
What do I name this new folder? Does it need to be named the same thing as the .res and .txt file?
What do I need to put into this folder? Do I put the .res and .txt files into this new folder, or in the parent folder?
Do i need to put all of the images into the subfolders, or just the new custom ones?

Of my four questions, only #3 is answered, and very vaguely I should add.

You may use the existing "Mod Kit" folder
What do I name this new folder? Does it need to be named the same thing as the .res and .txt file?
You actually do not have to rename the folders.
What do I need to put into this folder? Do I put the .res and .txt files into this new folder, or in the parent folder?
You don't need to create new folders and may just use the existing folders.
Do i need to put all of the images into the subfolders, or just the new custom ones?
You can put the image files into the existing "images" subfolder. The detailed instructions for this can be found on this web page: http://www.capitalismlab.com/how-to-make-a-mod.html

Okay then, what if I want to have 1 mod that has real life company names, and then a second mod that has names based off video games, and then a third mod that has another set of names? How do I make three separate mods that I can choose from in game?

The same goes for the Billionaire's list, person list, etc. etc.

If you want to create more than one mod, you may simply duplicate the entire folder of "Mod Kit" and assign a new name to the duplicated folder.
