Currencies / Commodities / Cryptos / Acquisition and Merger / Global Comapny Shares / Billionaires

Some Suggestions to add more depth and realism to the game.

1) Multiple Currencies: Implementing different currencies depending on the location adds a layer of complexity and realism to the game. It could introduce strategic decisions for companies regarding currency exchange rates and international trade. This feature could also simulate economic fluctuations in different regions.

2) Crypto Currency & Commodities Market: Including a crypto and commodities market adds diversity to investment options within the game. Crypto could offer high-risk, high-reward opportunities, mimicking real-world volatility. Meanwhile, the commodities market could reflect economic conditions and provide a hedge against traditional investments.

3) Acquisition and Merger Options: Presently, we can only offer to acquire a company when it's on the brink of bankruptcy or when dealing with private entities.

It would be advantageous to broaden these capabilities. For instance, it would be beneficial to have the flexibility to make offers independently, rather than being constrained by fixed valuations - Just like offering to Buy Tech from a company. This flexibility could enhance strategic decision-making and offer more approaches to acquisitions.

Moreover, in the context of public companies, there's room for enriching gameplay. Allowing players to propose purchasing the remaining shares could add depth to the game's dynamics. Shareholders could be given a specified timeframe—perhaps a month—to respond, regardless of the player's stake in the company, be it a minority or majority holding.

We could also stretch it a bit and implement the idea of Proposing a Merger to competitors.

These features could introduce a new dimension to gameplay, fostering strategic thinking and negotiation skills.

4) When it comes to acquiring shares in a global stock market company, the current system has some quirks. Even if you acquire 100% ownership, the share price continues to fluctuate, which seems counterintuitive. Moreover, despite owning all the shares, you still lack control over the company's decisions.

To address this, we could implement a few changes:

Upon reaching a 50%+1 shareholding, players gain the ability to adjust the company's dividend payout. This empowers players to influence the company's financial policies and potentially increase shareholder returns.

At the 75% shareholding threshold, players unlock the ability to determine the company's growth strategy and target markets. This could include options like aggressive growth, moderate expansion, or steady progress. These decisions would be implemented through AI management and would impact the company's global strategy without affecting individual in-game assets like buildings.

Upon achieving 100% ownership, players could choose to delist the company from the global stock market. Once delisted, the company would operate as a global subsidiary, directly under the player's control. This would signify full ownership and control over the company's operations and strategic direction.

These adjustments would create a more realistic and immersive experience, allowing players to exercise greater control over their investments and strategic decisions as they acquire larger stakes in global corporations.

5) Billionaires List Connected to Global Stock Market

How about instead of having Bill Gates with 70Bil and 0 shareholding, we would have the option to randomly generate 200 People which have shareholdings in Global Companies - 100 of which make the top Billionaires list, but if the 101st person has a shareholding in a global company that exploded, they could join the list as well.

That way it adds to the dynamic of things and not just effected by inflation..

These 200 people can also act as part of the venture capitalists and / or invest in further global or local companies.

1) Multiple Currencies - I this idea. Multiple currencies would be an interesting dynamic when making business decisions (as well as creating a more complete import/export model), not to mention perhaps the addition of a service firm that trades/hedges currency fluctuations.

2) I don't really like the idea of Cryptocurrencies. It kinda just adds too much of a casino/random gambling aspect to it given that there is no real rhyme or reason to Cryptocurrency prices.

3) Yes - tender offers for Publicly Traded companies would be a cool idea - buy a minority in a company and then make an offer to the 'Board' for the renaming shares or even use the threat of a takeover as leverage for them to buy you out. Many real world mergers and acquisitions do tend to work this way. Would be cool to see a distinction made between a hostile vs friendly takeover as well. That would include merger offers, though we would need to work out who gets to be CEO after that!

4) Not sure about this one. The global stock market was introduced mainly I think as a means of helping the insurance companies, I don't think the intent was to ever be able to buy up most of the market value due to the fact that it would have taken trillions to do (but it is possible and I sometimes do it). But maybe it could be expanded so that you could exercise indirect control over those stocks, even if they don't actually have a business presence in the game.

5) Not sure about this one, I suspect that Venture Capitalists already cover most of this. But maybe they could be tweaked to also invest in global stocks.

1 - sure - but in what scale - just playing with your own currency or each city can potentially have its own currency, which leads to lots of exchange rate shenanigans.

2 - no thanks

3 - i see limited used, before long most companies end up solely owned by AI director unless player gets buying there stock, and its already unrealistic every director will sell you 100% of there very profitable company. also how you would as a player feel if 30 years into a game your company got bought and game ended?
it would also make game even easier to buy out the AI since at present each chunk you buy pushes stock price higher.

4 - i just view them for flavour, one company based in a few cities being able to control every multinational in existence, because every shareholder in every company is willing to sell is even less realistic. i normally ignore the global market, if my ai subsidiaries buy into it fine, if not also fine. also its again unrealistic, as most "anti competition regulators" would block you from doing this

Agree.

In fact, this is exactly the reason that why the tender offer feature isn't going to be implemented in the game, as the dev team has told me.
