Hi David,

I am doing a run of 5.1.17 with all three DLCs active and 7 City's.
I think the City Competitiveness Rating Industry associated to the wrong City's in Industry Jewelry.

(all Manufacturing units for (Gold Ring and Silver Necklace) and R&D units bild and works over Jahrs in City "Reese"
but the City Competitiveness Rating Industry increases in City "Falcon Mesa" over 50 but there no Manufacturing units or R&D

greetings

Monty

I find city competitiveness irrelevant to player's or rivals' production and research. I never thought it is a bug so I never reported it.

I don't think so.

"the City Competitiveness Rating affect the performances of researches in all R&D centers in the city that focuses on specific industries. So setting up R&D centers in a city where City Competitiveness Ratings are higher will give you an obvious competitive advantage."

so I think the City Competitiveness Rating is Key to bekome technological dominance or possibility's to win a technological race.

Well, no. You swapped cause and consequence.
If you will set up an R&D center in a city with high competitiveness rating, you will get better research results just like it was said in that quote. But setting up R&D in a random city will not raise city's competitiveness.
The thing that will raise city competitiveness is research in university.

well, research in university raise city competitiveness
but also Manufacturing units and R&D units have an impact on the competitiveness rating.

1) A city’s competitiveness increases faster when there is a larger number of companies engaging in R&D or production activities in the industry in the city.

The types of business units that increase a city’s competitiveness include:

R&D units – the percentage of people in the city with university degrees will have an impact on the increase rate.

Manufacturing units and Farm Livestock Processing units – the percentage of people in the city with high school degrees will have an impact on the increase rate.

2) The city government may sponsor a university to conduct research to boost the city’s competitiveness in a specific industry.

oh, looks like you're the smartest guy this forum ever seen.
But I will return to my initial comment:

I'll explain my point with the following screenshot.
Here you can see an effect of a Sport Equipment R&D center and a couple of factories. Other fields are researched in just three universities. In my opinion it looks ok. If R&D and factories' effect on city competitiveness will be bigger, research in universities will become useless. So if you want to raise competitiveness level with R&D centers, you are definitely using the wrong tool. If you want R&D to raise competitveness more than it is now, you are willing to break game balance.

Well, I don*t want break the game balance.
but I made some interesting observations:
let me show you
1. The Blue Company dominate the market in Jewely (Gold Ring and Silver Necklace)
all Production and R&D in Gold Ring and Silver Necklace is in the City "Reese"
Image

2. The City Competitiveness Rating of Reese in Jewelry is at 9.82
Image

3. The City Competitiveness Rating of Falcon Mesa in Jewelry is at 50.82
but there is no Production or R&D in Gold Ring or Silver Necklace is in the City.
In my view, the city with the higher employment (R & D and Production) in Jewelry would have a higher Competitiveness Rating.
(specialist staff,experience..)

4.Of course the University of Falcon Mesa not do research in Jewelry.
(which could change the game)

thanks for the quick fix   :D :D

I think maybe that the bug is also in the version 5.3.01 Post-Release Beta Version
(after playing 5.3.01 I am a little bit confused because the efekte are more difficult to replicate)
