New feature: Community Engagement Department in Headquarters in version 10.0

Post by David »

Community Engagement Department

In this department, you can set a budget for ongoing civic donations, calculated as a percentage of your operating profit. This new feature allows you to give back to the community while managing your business operations.

The following information is displayed at this department:

Lifetime Civic Donations
The company’s cumulative donations towards civic building construction and operational expenses.

Lifetime Civic Donations as a Percentage of Lifetime Operating Profit
The company’s cumulative donations towards civic building construction and operational expenses, expressed as a percentage of its total pre-tax operating profit throughout its history.

Ongoing Civic Donations as a Percentage of Operating Profit
The company’s continuous donations for supporting the operational expenses of civic buildings, for which it has funded construction, represented as a percentage of its pre-tax operating profit.

Note: The feature was implemented upon the request of one of our institutional clients which is a university using CapLab. The students are required to achieve the goal of meeting a certain civic donations as a percent of operating profit.

We are considering various possibilities of adding impacts to gameplay based on the player's civic donations.

One idea is to have a Company Reputation value which can be boosted by civic donations.

The your c-suite executives (CTO, COO, CMO) will like your company more and have less tendencies to ask for a salary raise.

In addition, with the Talent system in the Digital Age DLC , the employee loyalty of your company will benefit from the company reputation, thus reducing the need to regularly increase their salaries in order to retain them.

If you have any other ideas on this, please let us know.

Would this be a new stand alone value or would it be integrated into other things such as the Political Influence score?

I like this idea, young talented executives who would work for a company with what they think is more idealistic.

Similar to the above, yes I like this one as well.

Some additional ideas:

Boost of political reputation - people are more likely to vote for your party even in the absence of political funding for specific candidates.

Maybe have the civic donations boost the city budget? More money to the city frees up it's budget for other things - so maybe as a donor you could maybe ask for a favour from time to time like getting the universities to fund the product types you want even if you don't have a mayor controlling the city.

Increase Brand Loyalty - maybe cause it to drop or decay more slowly. Although there is already a public relations unit so maybe this would be redundant.

The Influence score is for a person where the Company Reputation is for a company.
