After weeks of beta testing, the version 8.1.05 is now stable enough and we are rolling it out as a release version. This new version sees the debut of the highly anticipated feature Service Firms for the Experimental DLC.
A new modern apartment building with spacious balconies and green décor, replacing the old one.
In a service firm, products are prepared and sold to customers in a unified operation. On the 3×3 layout, the preparing process (e.g. preparation of pizzas) is structurally similar to the manufacturing process. It has Input units for procuring ingredients, and a Prepare unit for making the products. Then the Prepare unit is linked to a Sales unit, allowing it to sell the products directly to customers.
From the gameplay perspective, you may view it as a hybrid combining the production function of a factory and the sales capability of a retail store.
A major distinction between service firms and retail stores is that each service firm has a brand rating at the firm level and it is shared by all products within the service firm.
For example, when you think of a pizza restaurant, you recognize the restaurant’s brand, as opposite to having brand perceptions for different flavors of pizzas from that restaurant.
Another characteristic of service companies is the ability to increase local customer traffic. With this, you can increase customer traffic in a shopping area by opening more restaurants there.
To use this new feature, enable the “Service Firms” option on the “Experimental DLC” page of the New Game Settings menu.

For more details about Experimental DLC
Select “Service Firm” from the “Build” menu and choose a type of service firm to build.
Use the Preparation Guide to set up the restaurant to prepare Pizza Seafood.
Note that this is an experimental feature and it is intended to be used by user created mods. The vanilla game content currently does not contain any service firms. You must load a mod with service firms in order to use this feature.
We recommend Real World MOD (Service Edition) v12.00 which allows you to open Pizzerias, Fast Food Shops, Business Shops and Hotels as Service Firms.
This new version of Real World MOD also comes with a brand new Pizzeria building.
The “Subsidiary DLC” page on the New Game Settings menu has been expanded with two new sub-pages as follows:
[Subsidiary Settings] [Game Rule Modifiers] [AI Advanced Start]
1) When [Game Rule Modifiers] is selected, the following options are displayed:
Natural Resources Availability
Unlimited - when a natural resource firm (mine/oil well/logging camp) has used up its reserve, instead of stopping its operation, it will continue to produce the natural resources at a different recurring cost. (Previously it can could be set this way using a script.)
Fewer - there will be fewer natural resource sites in the game, thus it will be more competitive in acquiring them. (This is a new option.)
Modifier for Senior Executive Salaries (Previously this could only be set using a script.)
The default value is 100. If it is lower than 100, the expected salary for the job position will be lower.
If you use a script to set the salary levels of individual executives, the script will override this setting.
2) When [AI Advanced Start] is selected, the following options are displayed:
Years of Advanced Start for AI (Previously this could only be set using a script.)
If this is larger than 0, the AI will have an advanced start. During the years of AI advanced start, the maximum number of firms that the player can build is limited.
Stock Purchase Allowed during AI Advanced Start (Previously this could only be set using a script.)
This determines whether the player can purchase stocks during the period of AI advanced start. If it is disabled, not only is the player not allowed to buy stocks, but also AI companies are not allowed to buy the player company’s stock during this period.
Limit on Building Firms (This is a new option.)
The maximum number of firms that each of the companies controlled by the player can build during the period of AI advanced start.
Text display in the game is sharper thanks to an improved font system.
For firms with multiple floors, you can now easily tell how many products are being sold on each floor by glancing the floor icons, thanks to its elegant new design in which each product is represented by a red dot. For example, 2 red dots on the second-floor icon means that there are 2 products on that floor.
The Subsidiary DLC introduces new features for conquering the business world on a grander scale!
The City Economic Simulation DLC lets you build new cities from scratch and play the role of mayor while simultaneously growing your business empire!
The Digital Age DLC offers you an exciting opportunity to build a tech startup at the dawn of the digital age and oversee its growth to eventually become a tech powerhouse that joins the ranks of tech titans such as Microsoft and Google.
The Banking and Finance DLC simulates the financial world with a level of realism that is unprecedented in video games. You can now build a business empire on a truly epic scale by extending its reach to the lucrative banking and insurance industries. It also greatly expands the types of financial strategy that you can execute by allowing you to issue and trade bonds, invest in global stocks, do stock splits, and pay out special dividends.
The Experimental DLC is a special DLC that serves as a temporary place for new features to be experimented and tested before they would make their way to an official DLC.
The Experimental DLC is freely accessible to users who have purchased all of the 4 other DLCs (Subsidiary DLC, City Economic Simulation DLC, Digital Age DLC and Banking and Finance DLC.)
